Jobs in Display Advertising
Display Advertising is an important component of many advertising/marketing plans. While there are few jobs in Display Advertising per se, you will find that understanding how display advertising works and being able to develop and manage display or video advertising campaigns is often a required part of other marketing jobs like, e.g jobs focused on customer acquisition, product marketing, brand marketing etc. You will also find jobs focused on the management and execution of display advertising campaigns on larger publisher sites, referred to as Advertising Operations, or AdOps. In those jobs, you focus on assuring that ad spaces on the website get filled with display (or video) ads. Increasingly, advertising technology is used to automate this process.

Search on Job Sites for the above roles or search for ‘display advertising’, ‘video advertising’, ‘adops’. Browse job boards and Linkedin for positions that list display advertising, Adwords Display or Youtube marketing as desired skills. It is also a good idea to browse the websites of advertising agencies. They may list positions that require skills in display advertising. Advertising agencies often offer great opportunities for beginning marketers. They offer entry level positions with lots of on the job training. To find these roles, it is a good idea to look for ‘account management’ positions at advertising or marketing agencies.
Responsibilities of a Digital/Marketing Account Manager in an agency:
Work with client representatives inside and outside the agency to understand the client’s marketing needs and help craft an advertising plan
Develop and manage media plans for advertising campaigns
Create, execute and monitor advertising campaigns
Continuously update clients on campaign progress. Create and present campaign reports.
Communicate with agency counterparts on the day-to-day management of campaigns
The experience desired for Digital/Marketing Account Management candidates typically includes:
Proficient in Excel and strong PowerPoint/presentation skills
Proficient in Google Analytics and/or other digital analytics tools
Adwords knowledge is a plus
Great organization skills with an ability to plan and execute complex projects
Demonstrated analytical skills, detail-oriented, and organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.
